Model Bria Murphy On The Pressure To Stay Thin: Girls Eat Cotton Balls Dipped In Orange Juice
Bria Murphy is currently soaking up the sun in Hawaii with her famous dad Eddie Murphy, her sister Shayne Audra and Eddie’s latest girlfriend.
The 23-year-old model who one day wants to become a Victoria’s Secret Angel recently sat down with Good Morning America to chat about the pressures of fame the lengths some models go to stay thin.
“I’ve heard of people eating the cotton balls with the orange juice. They dip it in the orange juice and then they eat the cotton balls to help them feel full,” she revealed.
And while she has a good head on her shoulders, Bria says that she does feel the pressure to stay thin as well.
“I’m a small girl naturally, but I can gain weight,” she says. “And I’m going through little hormonal changes and my body’s changing and I’m like, “Oh my God, I’m gaining weight this week, I’m losing weight next week.””
She also talked about dealing with rejection during casting calls and says the best way to deal with it is not to take it personally.
Bria explained, “It’s your job to go into a room … and some people will just say no without an explanation, and some will be like, “Oh, your nose is too big. Your butt’s too big. Oh, your legs are flabby””
“Like, they’ll just go on you, “Oh, you need to tighten that up,”‘
