Jay-Z’s Samsung Album Deal May Affect Sales Figures + Photos From 40/40 10th anniversary celebration
The rapper went on a mini Twitter rant after finding out that the million free copies of Magna Carta Holy Grail Samsung will be giving away to its customers may not count towards his official sales.
David Bakula, an analyst for Nielsen Entertainment says, “The bottom line is they’re getting paid on a million albums. From what Billboard considers chart-eligible, we don’t count free-to-consumers (albums).”
Billboard uses Nielsen SoundScan rank its weekly music chart so this is a very likely scenario.
Anywho Jigga got wind of it and went on a mini tirade with the hashtag #newrules:
