Ethiopia’s 3000m and 5000m track and fields specialist, Meseret Defar, yesterday extended her IAAF Diamond League gold medals to four after recording her best time (14:26.90) since 2010, at the meeting that held in Oslo.
The Ethiopian lady was out of form in her first 2013 Diamond league outing in Shangai as she was out run by her compatriot, Genzebe Dibaba.
“Before Shanghai I was sick and I nearly cancelled the race,” she said on iaaf.org.
Her performance at yesterday’s event marks her coming back to world record form, as she puts it:
“Here all was okay. I think I’m even in World record shape, but I’m not confident enough to try for it. This year the main goal is the 5000m but I think I will have a surprise for my fans. You will see in due time.”
The double Olympic champ came first ahead of Kenya’s Viola Kibiwot (14:33.48) who overtook  Dibaba (14:37.68) a few paces from the finish line.
