Mandela In “Permanent Vegetative State– Doctors Advise Family To Unplug Machine
As a major family feud continues to overshadow latest reports on the state of health of the former South African Leader, Nelson Mandela, it has emerged that the former president’s is clinically dead and in a vegetative state, only edging on life support machine.
The claim came through Court documents made available in South Africa as one of the former president’s grandson embarks or a family cleansing exercise, proving some illegitimacy in the family members constitution.
The state of health of the former leader was seen as so agonizing that family members were advised by doctors to turn off his life support in order to limit his length of suffering.
“The family members were advised by doctors to switch off his life support as the former president was in a vegetative state”, court documents have revealed.
Documents dated back to last week, June 26 read: “He is in a permanent vegetative state and is assisted in breathing by a life support machine.
“The Mandela family has been advised by the medical practitioners that his life support machine should be switched off.
“Rather than prolonging his suffering, the Mandela family is exploring this option as a very real probability.”
As news broke out about his ill-health and millions across the world are praying for his continued survival, the family has been embroiled in a major feud which centered on a wild sex scandal.
A family in-fighting exploded with extraordinary allegations of illicit affairs raging among the Mandela clan members.
The Ex-President’s eldest grandson Mandla dramatically launched an attack on his own brother Mbuso.
He claimed Mbuso had enjoyed secret sex sessions with his own wife and got her impregnated.
Mandla, though regretting that the case has burst open, said he didn’t want to wash his family “dirty linen” in public.
Among the raging allegations were that:
* brother Ndaba was born as a result of their dad’s fling with a married woman.
* two other brothers are not his father’s children.
* His Aunt, Makaziwe should concentrate on her own marriage and stop interfering in the clan’s family affairs..
* That his other Aunts Kweku Amuah and Tokoziwe Mandela also should have “no business” in family matters.
The row exploded after three graves of Mandela’s children were exhumed following a controversial court case.
They were re-interred 15 miles away on Wednesday afternoon in Mandela’s home village of Qunu where he himself wants to be buried.
Mandla said: “I still refuse to be associated with the squabble over my grandfather’s money and you will see the real agenda will be revealed.
“Nelson Mandela was there when I became chief -now individuals opportunistically question my legitimacy.
“Grandfather asked me to take responsibility after my father died.
“Back then my grandfather prophesied about these days. He would ask ‘who of you will live in rural areas?’ All my brothers said no.
“He would laugh and smile at me. He would ask if anyone opposed me becoming the Mvezo chief. None of them challenged it.”
The graves are Mandela’s eldest son Makgato who died in 2005; Mandela’s first daughter Makaziwe, who died as a child in 1948; and Mandela’s second son Thembekile, who died in a car accident in 1969.
However, the claim that the former president’s condition remain unchanged may warrant an early announcement of his official pass-on.
Mandela’s wife Graca said his condition had not changed and while he was sometimes “uncomfortable” “he has never been in pain”.
*Below, former President Nelson Mandela’s grandson Mandla Mandela says he has the right to determine where his father is buried. He’s been addressing the media at Mvezo in the Eastern Cape.
This was made possible after a court order granted to 16 Mandela family members against the icon’s grandson and chief at Mvezo. The order provides for the remains to be returned to Qunu from where Mandla Mandela removed them in 2011.
They were exhumed from Mvezo. Police say the remains could be reburied in Qunu.
