Happy Mavin Day - Don Jazzy gets his Groove Back (IDJA)

Wednesday, May 8, 2013, marks exactly one year that Michael Collins Ajereh publicly decided to chart a new course for himself with the birth of Mavin Records-home to the Mavin League. It also marks his birthday. The last 12 months have been clouded with several can he get it right alone? Would he pull it through all by himself?

When news circulated that Don Jazzy and Dbanj had split last year it was also said that he left with all Don Jazzy’s catalogue. Of course everyone thought that would be the end of him. And considering the obvious fact that the last one year has become symbolic as one of the most trying periods for the Nigerian entertainment industry, it has also become a symbolic year in the life of the man who is now known and well referred to as Don Jazzy. Not many had given him the slightest opportunity to prove his worth-accusations were flying around-but Don Jazzy remained resolute, determined and undeterred in his decision to break even with the MAVINS. Don Jazzy has successfully remained relevant, steadfastly cooking up beats-as much as he can, churning out productions that has left the music industry in a state of frenzy. He has bounced back from scratch! Has he succeeded? That varies largely on your definition of success but with over a dozen hit productions this year-Take Banana, Oma Ga, Amarachi, Goody Bag, Kick, Without my heart, Rotate, Lady Don Dada- in the last one year, one can only pat the beefy producer on the back for daring to dare and standout! He has bounced back from scratch! From Tiwa Savage to Wande Coal, D’Prince and Dr. Sid, it’s obvious that Don Jazzy has structured a way out for himself and his league of Mavins. However, only few people want to understand the obvious fact that the 31 year old music producer, whose wizardry has become one of the most talked about revolutions in the Nigerian music industry, remains the regular man who can be caught tweeting on popular micro-blogging network site, Twitter, as Don Jazzy, or the young man that has decided to give back to that major society that has consistently supported him. Without attracting undue possession, the term, IDJA (It’s Don Jazzy Again) became one of Nigeria’s most trending and popular 4-letter word on Twitter. Although mystery remains his strongest point, Don Jazzy, has left Nigerians-in Nigeria and its diaspora- wondering who and where he hails from.

Michael Collins Ajereh was born on November 26, 1982.A Nigerian Multi award-winning record producer, singer-songwriter, musician, former CEO of Nigerian record label Mo' Hits Records founded in 2004 and current CEO of the Mavin Records label which he founded in May 2012 In his kitty, Don Jazzy prides himself as a Voice, Fashion and Social Networking guru, Mo'Hits/ G.O.O.D. Music producer, Samsung Deal, Mavin Records, Mavin League, Loya milk endorsement and an awesome production discography record. Michael had always had a flair for music, singing and playing the drums from the age of 4. He developed a passion for the bass guitar at the age of 12, He went on to study Business Management at the Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma in Edo stat before he moved to London in the United Kingdom in 2000 after his uncle invited him to come play the drums for the neighborhood Church. Various odd jobs followed including working at McDonalds and as a security guard. Already imbued with an intimate knowledge of traditional and percussion instruments, Don Jazzy further built on his musical knowledge during his UK stint. Finding fellow kindred spirits in the likes of Solek, JJC, The 419 squad and D’Banj, the gang would spend unrelenting hours practicing, recording and performing different types of music. Jazzy’s appetite for a full-time career in music could no longer be satiated when, in 2004, he partnered with D’Banj to set up the Mo' Hits label. Within two years, the prolific producer had wrapped up two albums (No Long Thing and Rundown/Funk You Up) with his former Mo' Hits partner and was working on a third, Curriculum Vitae. By this time, he had already started becoming a household name with the trademark intro – It’s Don Jazzy Again! In 2008 there were further production credits for the best selling album of that year; The Entertainer Don Jazzy repeated the trick with Wande Coal’s Mushin 2 MoHits, an album that was described as one of the best albums to ever come out of Nigeria Although not acknowledging himself as a recording artist, he is responsible for doing most Background Vocals for Artists he produces for and sometimes does complete verses. His musical dexterity can be heard through his beats and well calculated vocals he assists to the likes of D'Banj, Sauce Kid, Dr SID, Ikechukwu, Kween, D'Prince and even Jay-Z and Kanye West on their Watch The Throne track Lift Off, featuring BeyoncĂ©. In 2011 his talents got him noticed by Kanye West who signed him up as a producer on his GOOD Music label. With over a 100 production tracks to his name, the understated genius has worked with a host of local and international celebrities. In spite of his whirlwind superstardom, Don Jazzy has never forgotten his humble beginnings. On the wake of the split up of Mohits, Samsung unveiled their "Built for Africa" products and Don Jazzy was signed on as their spokes person. On May 8 2012, Don Jazzy said, “The way forward now is to make sure I keep bringing you guys more of the beautiful music you all love to dance to,” He kept his promise of a new beginning, as he announced the birth of Mavin Records. The multiple award winning producer and philanthropist has activated several fans with several music productions and hit songs leaving It’s Don Jazzy Again, IDJA on the lips of every one that matters. It’s a year now and needless to say Don Jazzy the internationally acclaimed producer,Nigerian multi award winning producer, singer, song writer,CEO Mavins record label, endorsements from Samsung and Loya, philanthropist is in it to win it and he is here to stay! Happy Birthday IDJA!

P-Square's Paul Okoye is indeed the father of Elshama's son says Elshama Igbanoi mum

19 year old Elshama Igbanoi's baby was actually born April 7th in the UK, four days before Paul Okoye and his girlfriend Anita welcomed their son, Andre, in Atlanta. Source confirmed from her mum that P-Square's Paul Okoye is indeed the father of Elshama's son but didn't want to talk much.

But contrary to earlier reports that Elshama is stranded in the hospital because she's unable to pay her bills, as for now, they are out of the hospital and chilling at home. The birth certificate bears Paul Okoye's name. The Okoyes are still not saying anything about the issue. In fact, someone from their camp said they do not plan to issue a statement or react to the story in any way.

Bukola Elemide popularly known as got what she did not bargain for weeks back at Lagos High where she’s battling with .

Having granted the music star much indulgence in the matter, the trial Judge then ordered the case to be closed and called for written address of the two parties.
It would be recalled that Asa’s first witness, Taiwo Olakunle of HiTv residing in Ebute Meta West was suddenly dropped at the earlier trial stage when she was confronted with hard evidences.
Meanwhile her manager, Janet Nwose, who was alleged to be having affair with Asa did not come up as a witness which has remained baffling to legal experts.
Speaking at the court, defendant’s lawyer, Yinka Muyiwa argued that Asa’s evidence shall be relied as he did not call for any witness.

Paul Okoye square’s Second Baby’s Mother Stuck In London Hospital Over Unpaid Hospital Bil

According to a report by Sahara Reporters, Paul Okoye, the other half of twin singing sensation, P-Square, has welcomed a child with 19 year old MBGN 2012 contestant, Elshama Igbanoi. After reading the story, I contacted someone from Paul's camp and they said they do not know anything about the pregnancy or the girl. Strange. Read the SR report below...
Nigeria’s hip hop sensation, P Square (real name Paul Okoye), has reportedly abandoned the mother of his second baby in a London hospital where the woman recently gave birth to the entertainer’s baby.
A few weeks after welcoming his first new born baby in Atlanta, P Square – who is also known as P2 – had another baby delivered for him in a London hospital by a former beauty pageant contestant. However, this time, P Square has refused to claim paternal responsibility for the baby boy.
More when you continue...

SaharaReporters learnt that the new baby’s mother is Elshama Benson Igbanoi, a 19-year-old and former Miss Plateau State. Our sources disclosed that she gave birth at the Queen Charlotte and Chelsea Hospital on Du Cane Road, London W12 0HS

Our sources said the new mother had been in touch with P2, but he had not been forthcoming beyond telling her that he plans to arrive in London for a DNA test to ascertain paternity. SaharaReporters spoke to the woman’s father, Benson Igbanoi, in Abuja. Mr. Igbanoi stated that his daughter was faithful to the musician. He also revealed that he had sent several emails to P Square concerning his daughter’s pregnancy for him, but had received no response.

Another source said Elshama's family had contacted Paul Okoye's father and aunt to persuade the musician to accept responsibility for his baby.
Ms. Elshama insists that she never slept with any man except for P2, adding that she lost her virginity to him when she was 17 years old.

SaharaReporters learnt that the London hospital where she gave birth has not received any payments. “The hospital has been harassing both Elshama and her mother to pay hospital bills of over £5,000 that have been incurred,” said one source. The baby boy has been named Michelle Paul Okoye.
In a twist to the story, a source close to the former beauty queen said Ms. Elshama was a close friend to Anita, the other woman who gave birth to another baby for P2 a few weeks ago in Atlanta, Georgia.

For Vector, A Good Name Is Everything
Vector
Vector
Lanre Ogunmefun, popularly known as Vector has risen to become a force to be reckoned with in Nigeria’s music industry. Whatever he has today, it’s as a result of hardwork. And for Vector, name is everything; a good name is better than silver or gold.
“We are about five in my family, I’m the fourth. All our dad has ever tried to teach us is that we should at all times stand for each other and be good to everyone around us. My dad can give his eyes to a stranger, that used to annoy my siblings and I but we later got to understand. There was a day I was in a bus and there were many police checkpoints. The police stopped the bus and one of them said to me, ‘you look like Mr. Ogunmefun’, I said I am his son. I didn’t think my father was famous in the town, but at certain times when the name was needed, it came to the rescue,” Vector told Saturday Beats.
“It made me sit and ask myself, if in the nearest future, if my son gets into any kind of trouble, will he be able to call my name? I just hope there won’t be any checkpoints then. So hopefully, my younger brother can say my brother is Vector when ‘trouble’ beckons,” he said.
For those who believe Vector isn’t in good terms with some artistes in the industry, Vector says he has no issue with anybody.
“I don’t have beef with artistes, I just get misunderstood sometimes and the ones who take it personal probably do so for different reasons: in most cases to get attention for themselves,” he said.
Vector believes he has to remain focused on his music, and so he’s not going to get involved in any relationship for now, but he loves all his fans regardless of gender.
“Serious relationships suffer especially when you are on the rise in your career so, considering a serious relationship has to wait a bit. The female fans are about as important in the general equation as the male ones. I don’t try to cope because doing so may infer that they are a problem. I’m as receptive as ever to all my fans,” Vector said.
Vector tries as much as possible to stay back and rest nights when he doesn’t have to be out for work as he says he doesn’t observe siesta. V.E.C. finds it hard to sleep during the day, so for him nights are precious.

Lil Wayne Dropped by Mountain Dew Over Emmett Till Lyric

Rick Ross is not the only hip-hop superstar losing out on endorsement deals. Mountain Dew has canned Lil Wayne after his crude reference to civil rights martyr Emmett Till.

“Beat that pu**y up like Emmitt Till,” raps the New Orleans MC on the original remix to Future’s single “Karate Chop.”
The offensive lyric was later removed and Wayne sent a letter to Till’s family offering his empathy. But it wasn’t enough.
“I was not impressed,” said Airickca Gordon-Taylor, a cousin of Till’s. “I think that he’s kind of been pressured or he’s been admonished to make a statement to the family because of the ongoing negative publicity and attention and the pressure we’ve put onto his endorsement with Mountain Dew.”
Mountain Dew’s parent PepsiCo took action and dropped the 30-year-old rapper. In a statement issued Friday, the company said that Wayne’s “offensive reference to a revered civil rights icon does not reflect the values of our brand.”
Mountain Dew also came under fire this week after a commercial directed by Odd Future’s Tyler, the Creator was deemed racist and pulled from the Internet.
Wayne has appeared in Mountain Dew commercials and the soft drink maker is also a sponsor of his upcoming “America’s Most Wanted Music Festival,” set to kick off this summer.
Last month, Rick Ross was dropped by Reebok after he rapped about raping a woman on Rocko’s song “U.O.E.N.O.”
